question

What is faith? Please don't give me the "textbook" (Bible) answer. Tell me, from your heart, "what is faith?" Do you walk in it? How? How do you know if you are stepping in faith or stupidity? How do you know if your choice is an answer to prayer or a stupid decision you've made along the way?

Faith is believing that Jesus could come back any minute and wondering when strange noises occur, if it's "the" time. Faith is not always knowing reasons why things happen (especially stinky stuff), but knowing that the crazy chaos of life really will result in God's plans being implemented, regardless of my missteps. Faith is believing that God holds me in his hand, even when I feel the world beneath me spinning out of control. Faith is being sure of Satan's ultimate demise, even when his greasy fingerprints appear everywhere I look. Faith is praying for what I want and not allowing disappointment to swallow me alive when God says "no," as well as not letting my ego get in the way when God says "yes." Faith is knowing that even if my decision turns out to be a "stupid" one, that the outcome of my actions can still turn out OK, 'cause God's bigger than my stupid-ness.

Hope that's not too wordy. It was cathartic to write. I'll reread it to myself, b/c I need to remind myself of all those things - often.

Love you, gal!
